An archaeological discovery from the Llullaillaco Volcano. It consists of three Inca children accompanied by their funerary offerings, who were found on a ceremonial platform as part of a ritual known as Capacocha.
For strict conservation reasons, the Llullaillaco children are presented to the public one at a time. (NOT all three simultaneously)
At this moment we exhibit:
El niño
The first records of this sanctuary, located on the Nevado de Chuscha (5,468 meters above sea level) in Cafayate, in the south of Salta Province, date back to the 1920s. Local people discovered and unearthed the remains of a girl in an Inca context.
The Inca State developed a complex political, social, and economic organization capable of moving goods, people, and information, ensuring communication and transportation through an extensive road network across its vast territory.
