Sala de exposición:

Sala The Queen of the Hill

Part of this archaeological collection is located in the museum’s temporary rooms. It includes ceramic pieces, gourd objects, lithic artifacts, necklace beads, and bone remains.

It was donated to the museum by the Teruel family in 2005. Through their accounts, it was established that in the 1980s, the property belonged to Humberto Hedro Teruel, who, along with Rodolfo Bravo, carried out excavations in an archaeological context that likely corresponded to a tomb, in San Carlos,  Salta.

The collection highlights ceramic objects with stylistic and morphological characteristics associated with Inca and local Santa Marian styles. The mixed Inca style presents a combination of Cuzco elements with other local ones, while the provincial Inca style imitates the iconography and morphology but differs in its production.

These types of pieces, in the specific sociopolitical context, are the result of a state imposition directed toward the manufacture of pieces by the populations submitted by the Incas.
